Akwa United to name new coach on Wednesday

After interviewing six coaches last week, the Uyo based side is set to name a new trainer to replace Solomon Ogbeide
Akwa United will this Wednesday name a new coach to take over from Solomon Ogbeide who is now with Warri Wolves.

The Uyo side set up a four man committee to interview coaches last Friday and will announce the name of the successful coach who will resume before the players return from their break on Saturday.

The caoches that were interviewed include Lawrence Akpokona, former Rangers handler, Alphonsus Dike, Dolphins assitant coach, Zachary Baraje, Sharks chief coach, Imama Amakpabo and Niger Tornadoes coach, Justin Tenger and Coach Abimbola who once assisted John Obuh in the Flying Eagles.

A source close to the team told Goal.com that the committee will make their report to the chairman of the club, Isong Isang who will look at the report and then make his input before announcing the new coach of the team.

"Everything is set for a new coach to be named for the team. The four man committee did a fantastic job interviewing the six coaches and all things being equal, a new coach will be unveiled on Wednesday," said the source.

"The team is waiting for the man that will replace Solomon Ogbeide because they are serious about doing well next season.

"They want to start preparation with the new coach who should have been contracted before the players return from their break."

Akwa United finished in the 12th position last season with 50 points.
