The two Nigerians scored for their clubs in important games against their local rivals in Spain and Russia on Sunday
Nigerians Obafemi Martins and Ahmed Musa scored important goals to help their clubs win in Sunday’s local derbies in Spain and Russia.
A beautiful volley from Martins on 22 minutes saw Levante edge local rivals Valencia in the battle of Valence as the less illustrious side won 1-0 at Estadio Ciutat de Valencia.
It was Martins’ second goal for the side after he moved from Rubin Kazan to the Spanish Liga side last month.
In Russia, Musa was in fine form as he scored in CSKA’s 2-0 win over local rivals Spartak Moscow that paraded compatriot Emmanuel Emenike.
Musa was fed by Japanese team mate Keisuke Honda in the 15th minute as he shot right-footed past the Spartak goalkeeper.
The Nigerian turned provider for Honda to increase the lead as they defeated their opponents.
Musa will be in Nigeria’s squad that will face Liberia in the final 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game next Saturday.
