Kano State Government has decided to honour players of Kano Pillars after they emerged champions of the Nigeria Premier League
Governor Aliyu Kwankwanso invited the players and officials to the Government house where he pledged to give all the players and officials brand new cars for winning the NPL trophy.
Kano Pillars media officer, Idris Malikawa told Goal.com that the Governor shocked the players and officials when he announced the gift to them.
"Nobody expected that the Governor will give them cars. A lot of them thought it will just cash rewards. But it was a pleasant surprise when he made the announcement.
"The Governor also promised that the team will not lack financial support when they represent Nigeria in the Champions League next year.
"You need to see the faces of the players when the Governor made the announcement. They contended that the gesture will spur them to retain the NPL trophy and do well in the Champions League.
"The boys are ready to do their best in all competitions next year because they know more rewards will come when they improve on their performance next year.
"The players cannot wait for next season to begin," Malikawa said.
Coach Baba Ganaru thanked the Gorvernor for lifting the spirit of the players with the car gifts and promised that they are now motivated to do more.
"The reward means we must not rest on our oars. We must strive to be better than we are last season," Ganaru told Goal.com.
"But I am confident that we are going to prepare very well for the coming season," he added.
