Sunshine Stars duo expect a thrilling game in Ijebu Ode against Ahly

The Akure Gunners have assured that the past achievements of the Egyptian giants would not save them on Saturday during the first leg Caf Champions League semi finals
Sunshine Stars duo of Ajani Ibrahim and Izu Azuka have assured the nation of a thrilling Caf Champions League semi-final first leg tie on Saturday in Ijebu Ode against Al Ahly of Egypt.

The Nigerian flagbearers have an awesome clash against the record winners of the lucrative foremost African club competition, but the two players have said that they would emerge victorious at the Dipo Dina Stadium on Saturday.

Azuka has plundered five goals in Sunshine's maiden campaign in the competition and stated that Nigerians would see a different team that is hungry to prove bookmakers wrong.

Azuka noted to Goal.com: "We are not going to start bragging ahead of the match but there is something I want to assure Nigerians, Sunshine will beat Al Ahly no matter what it will take us.

"We are prepared and ready for this one regardless of what we went through these past days. We are ready to take the Egyptians to the cleaners and God will see us through."

On his part midfield maestro Ajani also stressed that though he had struggled for goals this term, he is looking to get the crucial goals that would prove helpful for his club's progress in the competition at the weekend.

He beckoned on all lovers of good football, fans and supporters of the club to throng Ijebu Ode to show solidarity and support for the Nigerian representatives as they are set to do the nation proud.

"There is something I would like to say, all what [Ahly] had are in the past now and we are in the present because of our performance in the competition in barely our first outing. We are ready to prove Nigerians wrong by winning well on Sunday.

"To achieve our expected height on Saturday, we need the prayers and well wishes of Nigerians. We don't want them to stay in their houses to support us. We would like them to fill the stadium up on Saturday so that Al Ahly will not know what hit them when they enter the stadium," Ajani said.

Sunshine are the remaining Nigerian club on the continent after the early exit of Dolphins, Heartland and Warri Wolves in Africa's inter-club competitions.
