Ambrose started on a jittery note but recovered to help Celtic through the opening minutes of the game without conceding. His speed was crucial on at least two occasions when he recovered to make goal-saving tackles.
Though Emenike scored two goals against the Celtic defence, Ambrose helped Celtic win away for the first time away in the Champions League since 1989.
Ambrose had 33 touches and had a pass completion ration of 91%. He also had two shots off target and committed a foul against Emenike in the first half.
Emenike was the star performer for Spartak and will be very sad that despite his two goals, they lost their second game of the group stage 3-2, after the first day defeat away at the Nou Camp. They also led Barcelona 2-1 in that match before losing out. Their next match against Benfica is now a must-win encounter while Celtic need to take at least a point from their next two matches against Barcelona.
Also Moses started for Chelsea away to Danish champions, FC Nordsaelland, though he was substituted after 65 minutes by Eden Hazard.
Moses covered so much ground defending against the Danes that his touches in the final third were almost non-existent. Chelsea scored their last three goals when the Nigerian winger had been substituted. Moses had 48 touches of the ball and an 86% pass completion ratio.
The next match in Europe for Chelsea will be away against Shakhtar Donetsk on October 23.
