The Nigeria's representatives' midfielder has stated that their opponents' previous achievements in the competition will not save them when they meet on Sunday in Ijebu Ode
Ahly have won the Africa's foremost club competition a record six times and again topped Group B ahead of 2009 and 2010 winners, TP Mazembe of DR Congo in the group stage.
But the petit Sunshine midfielder assured Nigerians that the Egyptians would not survive the heat on Sunday when they tango at the Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode.
Medrano affirmed that though Ahly's past record might have swung the tie in the Egyptians' favour before kick off but he assured that the Akure side would win well on Sunday.
"We are doing fine and ready for Sunday. We are not in anyway intimidated by the records of our opponents because we know they are a good side and should not be toyed with," Medrano told Goal.com.
"Sunshine will go all out in search of a big win that will render the second leg a formality in two weeks time," he added.
Medrano played with Tiko United of Cameroun from where he was spotted by his current employers in a CAF Confederations Cup game. Where he was a delight to watch and kept Sunshine officials at the edge of their seats in both legs.
He helped Sunshine secure a place in the money spinning competition when the club came second in the 2010/2011 Nigeria Premier League (NPL) season behind Dolphins and his influential displays in the competition this term has aided the club's deserved place in the last four.
