The refurbished Lafia Township Stadium is expected to be ready for newly promoted Nigeria Premier League side Nasarawa United next season.
Nasarawa United gained promotion to the top-tier NPL alongside Bayelsa United, Nembe City and El-Kanemi Warriors.
According to Barrister Isaac Danladi, chairman of the Lafia club, the stadium is 80 percent completed and would certainly be ready for the club next season.
"We are excited about the near completion of the Lafia Stadium. It has given us an added impetus to approach next season with all seriousness," said Danladi.
"When we played in the National League last season, it was not easy playing in Kontagora. The fact that we played away from home in all our matches took so much from us. We spent more than we should have and our suppprters could not watch the way they would want to.
"But it did not deter us because we took it as a challenge and played well to gain promotion at the end of the season.
"Now after five years, the team is back to the elite division and our fans will have the opportunity of watching us from the first game in the Nigeria Premier League since our stadium is almost completed.
"I want to thank our governor Mallam Al Makura for the able way he has supported the team and for the aggressive way he has tackled the stadium project.
"I promise that we are not going to disappoint our fans because since they will now watch us in Lafia, we cannot afford to fail," Danladi boasted.
