Kwara United will next week announce a new coach that will take charge of the team next season. A top source in the camp of the Ilorin based side revealed to Goal.com that over 15 coaches applied for the job and the list will be narrowed down to three on Tuesday and then interviews will be conducted before the new handler is announced.
"It is a thing of joy to know that a lot of coaches still want to handle Kwara United. I was shocked to learn that over 15 applied for the job and all of them are top coaches," said the source.
"The board of Kwara United is serious about taking the team to the next level and that will only start when they get a good coach.
"Immediately they announce the name of the coach, he will start work so he can drop some players and start recruitment for the coming season.
"Last season was not a good one for the team. They started well, but could not withstand the rigours of the game and at one point were on the verge of relegation before their last game against Shooting Stars which they won 2-0.
"The board wants to correct a lot of things that did not work for the team last season and one of the ways is to get a good coach early enough to start work.
"Once the coach is announced, everything will begin to fall into place from next week."
Among the coaches that have applied for the job are Samson Unuanel, Justin Tenger and Alphonsus Dike.
