The Nigerian midfielder came on in the second half to help Betis to an away win at the José Zorrilla Stadium
Nosa Igiebor, scorer of the Super Eagles’ equaliser against Liberia last weekend, got off to a flying start with his new club on Monday as he helped Real Betis to a 1-0 win away at Real Valladolid in La Liga.
Igiebor came on as a 58th minute substitute for Nono and helped keep Valladolid at bay until the 89th minute when Rubén Castro capitalised on a defensive blunder to register the only goal of the match.
Igiebor must have infuriated Pepe Mel, his new coach as he took forever to get properly dressed when he was called upon. The Nigerian midfielder, who just transferred from Israeli side Hapoel Tel Aviv, thus becomes the first Nigerian player to play in La Liga this season.
Igiebor scored three goals in his only season in Israel in 27 games but the flexible midfielder scored four goals for the U-23 team that he captained last year.
He thus helped Real Betis to move to seventh place on the log with six points and a game in hand.
