Ahmed Musa and Ogenyi Onazi help their clubs to away wins in the Europa League

Nigerian internationals help their respective clubs to wins away from home in Europa League playoff matches

Nigerian winger Ahmed Musa was played as the lone striker in CSKA Moscow’s Europa Cup match against AIK Stockholm on Thursday and provided the assist for Keisuke Honda’s goal in the 61st minute.

CSKA won 1-0 and take a first leg lead into the second leg with the Nigerian playing instead of injured Serge Doumbia. Musa went past two challenges to lay the ball on a plate for Honda for a simple tap-in. Musa was playing his fourth match of the season.

The Nigerian was also flagged offside three times and had a shot saved in the 34th minute.

Another Nigerian player, Ogenyi Onazi played for SS Lazio in their 2-0 win away win over Mura 05 of Slovenia.

The former U-17 player impressed through pre-season and was registered in the main Lazio squad for the 2012/13 season. Onazi played all 90 minutes in left midfield and was shown a yellow card in the 88th minute.

Nosa Igiebor played for Hapoel Tel Aviv in their 3-1 away win over F91 Dudelange in what is his last match for the Israeli side before his move to Real Betis in Spain.

The second legs come up next Thursday before the draws for the group stage.
