Former youth international signs two-year deal with Ligue 1 outfit
The Nigerian striker has returned to familiar grounds with the modest Ligue 1 outfit
Former junior international, Simon Zenke has secured a two-year contract with Ligue 1 side, AS Nancy.
The Nigerian striker was unveiled for the press on Thursday at the team’s training ground. The striker was on the books of Turkish side, Samsunspor’s books until they were relegated at the end of last season.
Zenke helped Samsunspor win the second division title where he won the top scorer award. Over all he scored 17 goals in 52 appearances for the club in two seasons.
The former Strasbourg striker will be the ninth recruit for Coach Jean Fernandez who extended his contract with the Ligue 1 side for two seasons until June 2015.
Zenke joins defender Vincent Muratori and midfielders Abdou Rahman Dampha, Romain Grange, Thomas Ayasse, Salif Sane, Yohan Mollo, Thomas Mangani and Jeff Louis.
Meanwhile, central defender Sebastien Puygrenier and midfielder Lossemy Karaboue have also extended their contracts with the north-eastern side by three and one year respectively. Nancy finished a respectable 11th in Ligue 1 last season.
Another Nigerian striker that could also be on the move from Samsunspor is Ekigho Ehiosun, who has been linked with a move to Göztepe SK, just promoted to the top flight.
Ehis, as he is known to Nigerian football fans has been linked with Hapoel Tel Aviv but his wages may have blocked a deal. Ehiosun scored nine goals in 31 matches for relegated Samsunspor.
