The Nigeria Football Federation has announced a friendly match with Niger that will hold on August 15 in Niamey ahead of the Super Eagles’ final 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualification matches against Liberia.
In a release on Thursday afternoon, the national team’s media officer Ben Alaiya said that plans had been concluded to play against the Menas as part of preparation for the Super Eagles.
“The game will be played in the Niger capital, Niamey and is expected to feature mainly home-based Super Eagles players, as part of preparation for the September 8, Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Lone Stars of Liberia in Monrovia,” wrote Alaiya.
The Eagles would have to resume earlier than their scheduled August 19 camp opening in order to prosecute this new friendly after their hopes of playing against Arsenal was dashed.
Alaiya also said that there is the possibility of another friendly for the team before they finally face Liberia in a two-legged encounter in September and October.
