The Super Eagles defender may be swapping the Israeli league with playing for the Scottish giants
Efe Ambrose, Super Eagles defender could be on the way to Scotland to join Glasgow giants, Celtic.
Ambrose, who plays for Israeli club, FC Ashdod has been a constant feature in the national team under Stephen Keshi as he was under the reign of the former coach, Samson Siasia.
The Beijing 2008 silver medallist had trials with at Manchester City in January, but the move fell through because of work-permit issues.
The 23-year-old has had a torrid time in his career and was falsely diagnosed with a heart problem in 2008. He was though cleared in time to feature at the Olympics where he helped the Nigerian to the final where they lost 1-0 to Argentina.
Celtic already have another Nigerian in their squad, former U-17 World Cup winner, Rabiu Ibrahim. Ibrahim played just a match last season but he is expected to feature more for Coach Neil Lennon this term.
Ambrose is expected to come into the Celtic squad after Saturday’s 4-0 loss to Ajax as the manager is hoping to offload Daniel Majstorovic and Glenn Loovens to fund the new arrival.
