Heartland coach is optimistic they can retain the Federation Cup trophy they won last yearHeartland coach, Lodewijk de Kruif has disclosed that the Owerri side is gradually on the right path towards retaining the Federation Cup.
Kruif told Goal.com in Port-Harcourt after defeating Crown FC that everything is working well for the team and if it continues that way, the trophy might just be on its way back to the Imo State capital.
"We are doing our best to make sure we win this trophy again. We are churning out important wins and just like last year, everything is falling into place," De Kruif said.
"My boys have raised their game and are playing very well, waiting for the semi final match in either Calabar or Ilorin.
"Now I understand the fact that at this stage of the competition, anything can happen, but we have prepared our mind for anything that will happen.
"It will not be easy because we are the defending champions, and every club will want to come against us in a hard way.
"Heartland is well fortified for whatever will happen in the semi finals. But we are on the right path towards becoming champions again," De Kruif added. Heartland defeated Enyimba 1-0 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium last year to lift the trophy.
