Kano Pillars striker Gambo Mohammed is expected to travel to Egypt next week on trials with Al-lttihad based in Alexandria.
Goal.com learnt that all arrangements have been concluded for Gambo with 12 goals in the Nigeria Premier League to move to Egypt to train and possibly sign a contract with the club.
Kano Pillars coach Baba Ganaru confirmed that Gambo will leave for Egypt and would surely miss the quarter final game in the Federation Cup against Plateau United on Monday.
"Our leading striker is travelling to Egypt and that means, he will not be around on Monday when we take on Plateau United in the Federation Cup.
"He had so many offers especially from Turkey but he preffered this one from Egypt. And he will be travelling in a few days time.
"We are going to miss him because he has been a committed player this season. Reuben Gabriel will also not bee available for the game against Plateau United," Ganaru said.
Al-lttihad is one of the biggest soccer teams in Egypt The team founded in 1914 in Alexandria play in the Egyptian Premier League.
It has the third largest number of fans in Egypt, afterAl-Ahly and Zamalek. The club Al-Ittihad of Alexandria is the first club that rushed to endorse the idea of founding the Egyptian Football Association in 1921 which contributed to increased popularity in Alexandria.
