The Spartak of Moscow striker has started the season bang on fire just like he did throughout last season
Nigerian striker Emmanuel Emenike who made a promise to score 20 goals for Spartak Moscow in the new Russian season has started banging in the goals as he scored a brace in a pre-season friendly.
The forward, who is yet to feature in the Super Eagles under Stephen Keshi, scored the two goals that helped Spartak defeat Viktoria Plzen 2-1 in a pre-season friendly in Austria on Thursday.
Emenike scored 13 goals in his maiden campaign to help his team secure a UEFA Champions League place and second place in the league table. He scored early in the 12th minute and late in the 85th minute against Plzen to signal his intentions to score a bucketful in the coming season.
The Nigerian who has just signed a very lucrative contract is desirous of helping his team do very well in the league and in Europe and is not thinking about going back to Turkey to re-join Fenerbahce.
'”All this talk about the clause in my contract, ostensibly to allow the Turkish club to buy me for 10 million euros - is nonsense,” said Emenike to bobsoccer.ru.
“Up to a point I liked Fenerbahce, but now I'm happy in Spartak Moscow and the new contract - that's confirmation.
''I do not know how much time I will spend in this team, maybe two years, and maybe all four. But in any case, I cannot leave without having done for Spartak Moscow and its fans something very important,” he added.
The pre-season friendlies continue for Spartak as they take on Olympiakos of Greece on Saturday.
