The two best teams in the competition met in the finals that had to be decided by penalty kicks
After so many hurdles, the two teams were about the best in this year’s competition and paraded two of the best players. The final was as finals are, a tension-filled affair as it ended goalless and it had to be settled by penalties. TK Academy won 3-1 to cap their three-month performance of which they did not score in only one match, the final.
TK Football Academy were led by their inspirational captain Oghenovo Uzezi, who plays for National League side C.O.D United and midfield general Kehinde Ishola, who emerged as the highest goal scorer in the tournament with 10 goals.
TK Football Academy thus emerged out of the over 1,000 teams and over 10, 000 players that started the competition via the online registration portal. The have now won the 5 million naira prize on offer while Sheriff FC took the 3 million naira runner up prize.
The country was divided into six zones for the qualifying stage of the competition. The cities which hosted the qualifying stages of the matches are Makurdi (North-Central), Enugu (North-East), Port Harcourt (South-South), Oleh (Mid-West), Ijebu (South-West) and Lagos zone.
TK Academy emerged as champions of the Lagos zone while Sheriff FC were champions in Ijebu-Ode.
