The defender is optimistic that his team will finish as one of the representatives of Nigeria in next year’s Caf competitions
Warri Wolves defender Ike ThankGod has told Goal.com that the team will finish well this season and will earn a place as one of the teams that will play in the continent next year.
ThankGod revealed that Wednesday’s victory over Rangers, where his header got the lone goal, has boosted the confidence of the team and that they will still strive to play in the continent again after losing to South African side Black Leopards in this year’s Confederation Cup.
“There is a renewed vigour among the players in the team that we can still get something out of this season. After the game against Rangers, we told ourselves that all hopes are not lost.
“All we need to do is to win any away game and then win all home matches. I know that it is extremely difficult to win away matches, but we are going to do our best in the remaining matches in the season.
“The management has done well to pay us as and when due and we are determined to make sure that we remain in the continent next season,” ThankGod said.
Warri Wolves are sixth on the Nigeria Premier League table with 45 points.
