The Insurance of Benin coach is confident Keshi will take the national team to greater heights
Former Super Eagles assistant coac, Lawrence Akpokona has disclosed that Super Eagles handler Stephen Keshi is on the right path with the team after the slim 1-0 win against the Brave Warriors of Namibia.
Akpokona who is now the chief coach of National League side Insurance of Benin told Goal.com that Keshi is solidly transforming the image of the team which will lead to a stronger side in years to come.
"I saw the game against Namibia and I was happy that a new lease of life is coming for the team. For a long time, I have not seen a team that had a lot of home based players starting an international game.
"It shows no player can take the team to ransom again. For every position, there are good players that can effectively do well in that position.
"And to think that players based at home took over from foreign based players at some point shows that something good is happening with the team.
"I also noticed that the players showed a new zeal that will help situate the team in the coming months. Keshi is doing well and all I want to tell Nigerians is to give him time to fashion out a winning team.
"It takes time before a good team evolves so Keshi should be supported in every way. I am so sure that Nigerians will be proud of the Super Eagles when Keshi finishes his work with the team," Akpokona said.
