Rangers’ Okey Emordi reveals Flying Antelopes’ success secret

Rangers’ Okey Emordi reveals Flying Antelopes’ success secret

In spite of the 2-0 loss to Enyimba on Sunday, the Flying Antelopes say that a lot of factors have worked in the team's favour this season

Enugu Rangers’ technical adviser Okey Emordi has affirmed that trust in God, dedication, hard work and sincerity of purpose are the reasons the Flying Antelopes have been in impressive form since the 2011-12 league season started.

Emordi said after their 0-2 loss to oriental neighbours Enyimba on Sunday that the sincerity of purpose of the handlers of the Coal City team was another factor that made the club to stand out from among the other teams campaigning in the elite division.

Quoting the exact words of the 2004 CAF Champions League winner, “Why we have done well so far is because of the blessing from Almighty God, dedication to duty and hard work.

"You don’t eat people’s money. Look at all the Chairmen, they are taking people’s money and they are not paying the boys as and when due. But in Rangers, nothing of the sort has happened.

"God has decided to bless us with dedicated players and the management is responsible in every sense of the word. So I am happy that we are still marching on and by the end of the season, our efforts will not be in vain.

"We may have lost the game against Enyimba, but we are still focussed. Nothing will take us back because we intend to break the jinx of not winning a trophy for over 29 years.

Rasaq Adegbite and Ugwu Uwadiegwu, two former players of Rangers FC that crossed over to Enyimba FC this season, were both on the score sheet for the Peoples Elephant in the 23rd and 52nd minutes of the encounter.

Enyimba have the same 46 points with Rangers from 27 ties but are still second by virtue of inferior goals difference to the Flying Antelopes.

Both clubs have difficult fixtures this weekend with Rangers making a short trip to Owerri as guests of Heartland while Enyimba will lock horns with Warri Wolves in Warri.
