The Aba-side are second on the log and will go joint top with their opponents from Enugu if they get the win they desire
Felix Anyasi-Agwu, chairman of Enyimba FC of Aba, has affirmed the team’s resolve to defeat rivals Rangers of Enugu next Sunday in Aba in a Week 27 clash that pits first against second in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL).
The chairman who has overseen the affairs of the Aba Millionaires for the past seven years believes his team is ready to beat Rangers and take over the top spot on the league table.
“Our aim is to defeat Rangers come May 27 and to also narrow the difference between the two teams. Our victory against Kaduna United has put us in a vantage position,” Anyasi-Agwu said to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Anyasi-Agwu also commended the Austin Eguavoen-led coaching crew for the rebuilding job they had done on the team and he asked the players to step up their performance and guard against complacency.
“The players have been squandering many scoring chances, particularly at home, and this is affecting our title chase seriously, but hope is not lost yet,” he said.
Meanwhile, Eguavoen, said he is satisfied with the three points the team secured against Kaduna United despite the wasted scoring chances created.
“We have to ensure that we win all our home matches and guard against dropping points at home,” Eguavoen said.
Rangers are top the NPL table with 46 points from 26 matches, closely followed by Enyimba who have 43 points from the same number of matches.
