Unity was key to victory for Campus FC in Oleh

The University boys from Oleh have been friends and class mates for three years and that closeness has helped them get a ticket to Lagos

The big story of the Oleh leg of the 2012 Gulder 5-A-Side Football competition was definitely Campus FC of Oleh.

Apart from emerging winners and producing both the highest goal scorer and most valuable player of the zone, the team is made up of 300 level students of the Faculty of Engineering at the Delta State University.

Another fact is that these players will be starting their first semester examinations a day after emerging victorious in Oleh. The captain of the team, Ighota Ujiro told Goal.com that he personally had decided not to attend the tournament.

“I had almost discouraged my team mates from coming here as our exams is fast approaching but by God’s grace, I am happy that we had the opportunity to come here and shine,” said Ewoba after the final match victory.

He added that all the players are in the same level and because of that closeness and unity that exists between the players.

“Now that we have qualified for Lagos, I want the unity and closeness between us to increase. We are more like brothers and I believe that better unity between us will help us achieve our dream in Lagos,” he added.

“Unity is our strength, we are all departmental mates, we have won all cups in school and we then decided to try our luck outside the school and now we are champions of Gulder 5-A-Side competition.”
