Joel Obi doubtful for Nigeria after muscle strain
The young midfielder might miss out on the Super Eagles' important June line up of qualification matches due to an injury that could keep him out for a month
Inter midfielder Joel Obi may miss Nigeria’s packed schedule of international matches in June due to a muscle strain.
Obi, 21, missed out on Inter’s last match of the season against Lazio on Sunday to the injury that is expected to keep him out for about a month.
The young midfielder has been an integral part of the Super Eagles since he made his debut under Samson Siasia to rapturous applause against Sierra Leone in February 2011.
He was part of Stephen Keshi's squad when they drew against Rwanda in the first leg game of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match in February.
He will miss the 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Namibia and Malawi as well as the return leg Afcon qualifier against Rwanda.
