Eight teams have qualified into the next round of the Enugu Gulder 5 A-Side Football competition even as more knock out matches will be played on Saturday.
Majority of the clubs that moved into the next stage of the competition are not based in Enugu and that has given the competition more excitement.
The clubs from Enugu now see it as a challenge and have vowed to make sure that they win their matches tomorrow and also qualify for the next round of the competition.
Clubs from Mbaise, Owerri, Awka, Abakiliki and Aba dominated the first day in Enugu and the stage is set for a more exciting second day.
The teams that have qualified and will wait for their next opponents are Waves of Glory, Equity FC, Royal Stars, Tari FC, Givers FC, Morning Stars, AV FC and Tornado FC.
Technical Adviser of AV Football Club and former Spartans winger, Kevin Onwana whose team defeated Aba 4 Goal 3-1 by penalties after a 1-1 draw told Goal.com that he is looking forward to the second day of the competition.
"The Aba side gave us a good game and we conceded the first goal. But we rallied round and equalised and qualified through penalties.
" I want to watch how the second day will go because I know that a lot of the teams will really come out and show the stuff they are made of," Onwana said.
More knock out matches will be played on Saturday and thereafter the second round immediately commences.
The Enugu leg of the Gulder 5 A- Side football competition will come to an end on Sunday with two teams qualifying to represent the zone in Lagos.
