The widely supported home team has been eliminated from the competition by the Supremes FC who are based in Gboko
It was an anti-climax of sorts on Saturday when Tiger Warriors FC were eliminated from the tournament in the first game of Day Two of the Gulder 5 A-Side football competition in Makurdi.
The "home team" were defeated 3-0 by the Supremes FC against the popular wish of the local supporters around the Kingdom Comprehensive College playing pitch, Abu King Shuluwa area, Makurdi.
The Warriors had lit up the first day of competition when, spurred on by the partisan crowd, they defeated Shalom FC via penalties.
But their run was cut short by the Supremes who won via two goals hero Msugh Orungu and Daniel Songu.
The Supremes, who hail from Gboko, have now gone without conceding a goal in two matches.
Orungu is fast becoming a star of the tournament as he has now scored a total of four goals to lead the scorers' chart.
"It was not really a tough prospect playing against the home team because we have a really strong squad," Orungu told Goal.com.
"I hope my team mates will continue to help me score more goals. I pray that by the special grace of God we will scale through here and go on to the finals in Lagos," he concluded.
