The former Republic of Ireland coach praised the Juve boss, saying there is no better man for the jobGiovanni Trapattoni says Antonio Conte is a "proven winner" and there is no one more suited to the Juventus job than the former Bianconeri midfielder.
Conte joined Juventus from Siena in 2011 and has led the Turin giants to back-to-back league titles and is on course for a third, with Juve nine points clear at the top.
Reports in Italy suggest the 44-year-old is on the verge of signing a new deal with the club, and Trapattoni believes it would be the right move.
"Of course," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "At Juve, there is the style that requires balance, pragmatism and ethical values and behaviour.
"He is also a technical choice, because he is a proven winner and does not sit on his laurels. A good choice.
"Antonio has proven to be resilient, to be able to change and adapt."
Trapattoni feels Conte could emulate his record as Juve boss between 1976-1986, when he led the club to six league titles, due to their similar managerial traits.
"Sure, I see myself in Antonio," he continued. "Especially as he is careful in the preparation for games."
Trapattoni, who has been out of work since his departure from Ireland in September 2013, also claims it is little surprise Conte went into coaching.
"He was flexible and smart," he continued. "A force of nature in defence and in the offence. It is no coincidence that he became a coach.
"Playing in the middle gave him a better understanding of the dynamics of all departments."
