Berlusconi: I want Milan to stay in the family
The owner of the Rossoneri went to see the Diavolo when he was a child and says he would like to keep the club with the Berlusconis, but did not rule out selling up one day
AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi wants the club to remain in his family, however, refused to rule out the possibility of selling the Rossoneri in the future.
The former Italian prime minister has owned the Serie A outfit since 1986 and in that time has seen his team win eight domestic titles and five Champions Leagues.
“I'd love to keep Milan a family thing.” Berlusconi told ANSA.
“I still remember when my father took me to the stadium and I did not have to pay for a ticket because I was so small.
“The club is a part of my family. My daughter Barbara is now part of the company, and I'd like to keep it that way.
“For me, Milan is in my heart. Over the years we've spent more and more money, perhaps too much.”
Berlusconi did concede that if the financial situation remained the same he may have to consider selling the club to someone from overseas.
He added: “However, this does not mean that I'd instantly dismiss the idea of foreign investment. If the economic crisis continues, things may have to change.
“Foreign money in Milan? Only if I'm forced to do so, but I want there to be conditions to such a thing.”
