Napoli turned down chance to sign Salamon

The representative of the Polish defender claims he offered him to the Stadio San Paolo outfit before he eventually moved to Milan in the transfer window

The agent of Milan defender Bartosz Salamon has revealed that Napoli turned down the chance to sign the former Brescia player.

Salamon signed for the Rossoneri from the Serie B side at the close of the transfer window, with the Polish Under-21 international putting pen-to-paper on a deal until 2017.

However, the player’s representative Mino Raiola told Radio CRC that the former Lech Poznan centre-back was offered to Napoli first, with the Naples outfit passing up the chance to sign him.

“I offered Salamon to Napoli sporting director Riccardo Bigon, but he turned him down,” said Raiola.

“We have different opinions when it comes to players, but it is right that he does his job and I do mine.”

Milan are understood to have paid around €4m for Salamon, who they see a long-term addition to their defensive ranks.

The Pole was brought to Italy at the age of 16 in 2007 and spent the 2010-11 season on loan at Foggia.
