Galliani: It was our best performance this season
The Rossoneri vice-president applauded his side's efforts and resilience as they fought back from two goals down to claim a valuable point in Naples against all odds
Adriano Galliani has stated that AC Milan delivered their best performance of the season in the 2-2 comeback draw with Napoli on Saturday. The Rossoneri looked set for a disappointing defeat after mistakes by Christian Abbiati gifted the Partenopei a two-goal lead before half-time, but Stephan El Shaarawy had the final laugh as he popped up with a double after the break to help his side to a point.
Galliani, however, insisted that the Italy international should not be the only one to receive credit as the whole team delivered an excellent performance.
"We dominated the proceedings," the 68-year-old Italian told Corriere dello Sport.
"I think this was the best AC Milan we have seen on the pitch this season."
President Silvio Berlusconi visited the Rossoneri camp before the clash with Napoli and coach Massimiliano Allegri insisted that the gesture had a positive impact on the younger players.
"The president is a man of great charisma and is very competent. His visit to Milanello has been very important for the youngsters," said the 45-year-old trainer.
"I was not promised anything regarding transfers, this team is young and needs to grow. We have not even talked about goals.
"He says that it takes two or three years to rebuild, and we must put effort to achieve this even sooner. Berlusconi is the most successful president in the world and he understands the situation."
