Ibrahimovic will wear AC Milan's No.10 jersey & Thiago Silva is priceless, affirms Galliani
The Rossoneri supremo reveals the Swede will be allocated the much-fabled squad number next season, while the sought-after defender is going nowhere this summer
Adriano Galliani has dropped his biggest indication yet surrounding the futures of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva at AC Milan after confirming that the striker will wear the club's No.10 shirt next season, while issuing a hands-off warning for the Brazilian centre-back.Both the forward and the stopper have become integral to the Rossoneri cause in recent seasons, but the club's deteriorating financial position led to speculation linking the much sought-after pair to the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City.
However, the vice-president has now revealed Ibrahimovic will be handed Milan's legendary squad number, previously occupied by Clarence Seedorf, and that Thiago Silva will not be leaving San Siro anytime soon as he hinted a transfer was out of the question.
"I have promised [Ibrahimovic] the No.10 jersey, although I have not talked to Seedorf yet [about his future]," Galliani told reporters at the start of a juniors camp.
"Thiago Silva is priceless and is staying with us. He has numerous offers. In particular [Paris Saint-Germain director] Leonardo reminded me that the Brazilian defender came to Milan thanks to his interest and that of Ariedo Braida. He even asked for a discount.
"I do not understand how people can criticise our economic efforts while we are stuck in a worldwide financial crisis, so people just have to be grateful. I can't guarantee that all our stars will still be with us next season."
Galliani then gave an update on the futures of midfield duo Mathieu Flamini and Liverpool-owned Alberto Aquilani.
"We are dealing with Flamini, he turned down our first [contract] offer but he must lower his demands so it also suits us. At this time, the players must demonstrate a strong love for Milan.
"Aquilani has technical attributes and qualities that we like, but now it is up to Liverpool as he remains one of their players."
Milan have so far concluded the signings of Riccardo Montolivo, Bakaye Traore and goalkeeper Gabriel.
