thumbnail Hello,

The Italy international has revealed that the Ligue 1 giants are aiming high, while also praising head coach Carlo Ancelotti's positive influence

Marco Verratti has made it clear that Paris Saint-Germain are not only aiming to become the team to beat in France, but want to become the best team in the world, too.

PSG have heavily invested in their squad in the past two seasons as players such as Javier Pastore, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva have been brought to Paris, and Verratti has stressed that les Parisiens are highly ambitious.

"Our aim is to become the best team in the world. It's a big project that any player would love to be part of. We have to follow Carlo Ancelotti's instructions and if we do that, we can go a long way," Verratti was quoted as saying on the official Ligue 1 website.

"Every player that plays against you is desperate to play well. So if we go out on to the pitch in the right frame of mind, if we play with the required intensity, it'll be easier for us to win the games. But it's going to be hard at the start."

The young playmaker then explained that head coach Carlo Ancelotti regularly offers him advice in order to help him improve.

"The coach talks to me a lot. He wants me to accelerate the play as much as possible. He wants us to play at speed so he asks me to release the ball quicker. I like the fact he talks to me because his advice will help me to improve my game," he said.

The 19-year-old midfielder has so far provided two assists in six Ligue 1 appearances.
