The Argentine playmaker has suggested that there is a desire on the French club's behalf to lure his compatriot to the Parc des PrincesParis Saint-Germain playmaker Javier Pastore confirmed that Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain is a target for the Ligue 1 outfit during an interview on RMC’s ‘Luis Attaque’ show on Wednesday afternoon.
Higuain’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu has been the source of much conjecture in recent weeks, and with PSG in the market for at least one striker in the summer, the big-spending French outfit have been linked with the player, who himself was born in France, where his father was a professional footballer.
“We’d all be delighted for him to come to Paris,” Pastore said. “I am in regular contact with him. We talked a lot about our lives, of our mutual friends and that PSG is interested in him.
“We do not know yet if he will come to PSG.
“It is true that there are contacts. I am delighted that PSG wants to get him. He's a friend and a great player who would do us the greatest good.”
Although Carlo Ancelotti’s side lie second in Ligue 1 behind Montpellier with two games of the season remaining, Pastore is confident of both the short- and long-term success of the team.
“PSG can become one of the biggest clubs in Europe,” he stated, before indicating that criticism he received from the fans earlier in the season was “just”, but that it would not force him away from Parc des Prince. “I will stay at PSG as the club wants me.”
Meanwhile, he is confident of securing his first silverware with les Rouge et Bleu when the campaign draws to a close in little over a week’s time, explaining that he is hopeful of leaders Montpellier slipping up against third-placed Lille, who have been Le Championnat’s strongest team in recent weeks.
“PSG will be champions. The match between Montpellier and Lille [on Sunday] will be decisive for us,” he stated.
Going into the penultimate weekend of action in France, PSG trail Montpellier by three points, meaning Pastore & Co. will require quite a turnaround if they are to win their first league title in nearly two decades.
