Round 17 of the Primera Division saw Barcelona come from two goals down to thrash Getafe 5-2 as Pedro hit an eight-minute hat-trick in Madrid, while Atletico kept up the pace with a 3-2 success over Levante and Real Madrid remained five points adrift thanks to a hard-fought 3-2 victory of their own at Valencia.
Elsewhere, there were wins for Malaga, Sevilla, Almeria, Real Sociedad, Espanyol and Athletic Bilbao. Here, Goal takes a look at the standout performers from 2013's last Liga action.
In goal, Esteban was the hero for Almeria at Betis with a string of important saves which saw his side frustrate the locals and take all three points in the Andalusian clash on Saturday.
Atletico's Juanfran did well for Diego Simeone's side and won the penalty which gave the Madrid outfit a vital victory at home to Levante. Valencia's Jeremy Mathieu also impressed for Valencia but was on the losing side against Real Madrid, despite scoring his team's second goal. Andreu Fontas is also included after what was a fine display for Celta Vigo in the 1-1 draw with Osasuna.
Cesc Fabregas was superb and scored twice for Barcelona at Getafe, while Luka Modric pulled the strings for Madrid at Valencia. Duda shone for Malaga in their win at Elche and Javi Lopez orchestrated a memorable 4-2 success for Espanyol at home to Valladolid.
In attack, Diego Costa (who now has 19 in La Liga this term) is included again after his double in the 3-2 win over Levante. Carlos Vela also struck twice for Real Sociedad, while Pedro is in following his stunning eight-minute hat-trick at Getafe for a Barca side without Lionel Messi and Neymar.
