Round 15 of Serie A brought another excellent weekend for Juventus and Roma, some high-scoring tussles for Inter, Napoli and AC Milan, and a number of fascinating results involving teams at the bottom. And amongst it all were some big individual displays.
Mattia Perin's star turn in goal for Genoa kept Cagliari at bay for much of the game, and while his team ended up on the losing side it was an extremely harsh result on the one-man wall.
Like Cagliari, Verona left it late to come from behind against Atalanta before claiming the three points, with Domenico Maietta key in keeping the deficit down before their late rally. Kamil Glik was a matchwinner as well as a star at the back for Torino against Lazio, while Giorgio Chiellini was also on the scoresheet as Juve saw off Bologna.
Romulo was another stand-out for Verona in the win against Atalanta, while neighbours Chievo were boosted by Alessio Sestu's showing in the 1-0 win at Sassuolo that continued their recent upturn in form. Bruno Fernandes scored one of the goals of the weekend as Udinese shocked Napoli by coming back to draw 3-3 at the San Paolo, but it was a more familiar face in Arturo Vidal who got Juventus going against Bologna, as the champions maintained their lead at the top.
Up top, Gervinho was in form once again as Roma got back to winning ways against Fiorentina and Mario Balotelli grabbed a key brace as Milan claimed a point from their trip to Livorno. And when Perin looked set to earn all three points for Genoa, it was Marco Sau who kept on going to score twice and snatch the win for Cagliari.
