Poland international Lukasz Piszczek was converted into a right-back two seasons ago, and has grown to become one of the most dangerous defenders in the Bundesliga, netting four goals and providing eight assists as BVB retained their league title. His team-mate, Mats Hummels, also impressed in central defence, and could be set to start for Germany in their opening game at Euro 2012.

Bayern centre-half Holger Badstuber has become a fixture for die Mannschaft after carrying his fine club form into the national team. The defender was impeccable for the Germans in crucial games, displaying his immense ability. 23-year-old Spanish left-back Jordi Alba, who racked up 32 Liga games for Valencia, also makes the cut due to his impressive offensive play, and few would bet against him terrorising opposing defences for La Roja.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is one of the Netherlands' most potent weapons and will battle for a starting slot with Robin Van Persie. The Schalke attacker amassed an astonishing 29 Bundesliga goals and 13 assists for the Royal Blues as Huub Stevens' men qualified for the Champions League. Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski Poland's great hope at Euro 2012, after an immense season with BVB in which his 30 goals helped Jurgen Klopp's men to a domestic double. He most recently dismantled Bayern Munich in the DFB Pokal final, netting a hat-trick.

This season Cristiano Ronaldo proved once again that he can make the difference in crucial games, and will be hoping to do just that for Portugal in Poland & Ukraine. The attacker goes to the Euros on the back of 60 club goals, and Paulo Bento's men will hope he can be just as unstoppable for the national team as he is for club side Real Madrid.
