Italy legend Dino Zoff has voiced his concerns over the lack of competition in Serie A after claiming Juventus and Roma are on another level to their domestic rivals.
Traditional Italian forces such as AC Milan, Inter and Lazio have all been struggling this season, while Napoli have fallen 15 points behind Juventus in the league table following a number of poor results in recent weeks.
"Juventus have been playing some great football. Together with Roma, they don't really have any competition in Serie A," Zoff told Goal.
"Roma won the opening 10 league games, while Juventus went on a 12-game winning streak. We can only conclude that this is quite unusual.
"The smaller teams are usually capable of causing an upset every now and then. In my opinion, the lack of competition only benefits the titleholders.
"Of course, Juventus have a very solid defence. All of them are great players and Antonio Conte has instilled the right mentality in them. They play some very entertaining football."
Zoff then went on to discuss the upcoming Derby della Capitale and insisted that games between Lazio and Roma cannot be compared to any other match.
"The Roman derby cannot be compared to any other derby in Italy. The difference with for example the Turin derby is that the build-up already starts on Monday and lasts all week.
"The character of the game makes it absolutely unique. Everybody in the city talks about it all the time and the pressure is immense.
"The Turin derby isn't discussed as much in public and there is not as much tension as in Rome."
Lazio host Roma on Sunday afternoon as they aim to get their revenge for the 2-0 loss earlier this season.
