Manu Garba, head coach of Nigeria’s Under-17 national team is optimistic Kelechi Iheanacho will thrive at Manchester City or anywhere he chooses to play his professional career.
U17 star Iheanacho was given leave from the Super Eagles B camp to travel to England for contract talks with Etihad Stadium-based Premier League side two days ago.
Coach Manu who discovered him told Goal thinks he is not too young to play for a big club like Manchester City believing he has all it takes to become a super-star.
“He has paid his dues at the youth level and he should be given the opportunity to play so as to blend with the tactics of the club [Manchester City],” Manu told Goal.
“With this, it will hasten his promotion to the main team where he will have the chance to prove to the world what he has. I believe he will excel in England and with proper focus, he can play in any team in the world.”
The coach, who confirmed that he has not been officially announced as Flying Eagles coach also commented on whether the UAE golden boot winner deserves a chance in Stephen Keshi's squad to the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.
“Well it all depends on the coach whether he will give him the chance to prove himself or not,” concluded Manu.
