Netherlands international Eljero Elia is eagerly anticipating Wednesday's international friendly against Germany, and is hopeful of finding the net against Oranje's archrivals.

The Werder Bremen winger has scored several times against Germany while representing various youth teams, and he has now set his sights on his first goal against the Nationalelf at senior level.

"I have always scored against Germany. I remember a qualification game for the Euros with the Under-19s. We needed to win to qualify and I scored twice to give us a 2-0 lead. They eventually fought back to 2-2, though, and they qualified for the European Championships," Elia told Goal.com.

Elia also netted twice in a friendly game with Netherlands' B side against Germany Under-21s, with Oranje eventually recording a 4-0 win.

"Things went pretty good that match, I always seem to perform well against Germany," he added. "They had players like Jerome Boateng and Benedikt Howedes, while Kenneth Vermeer, Urby Emanuelson and Ricky van Wolfswinkel were part of our team."

The 25-year-old missed out on Euro 2012 because of his lack of playing time at Juventus, but returned to the national side for the 2014 World Cup qualifier against Romania last month.

Elia continued: "I was kind of surprised, but obviously very happy. I evidently made a good impression against Romania. The coaches told me that I did a good job.

"I always try to prove my worth over and over again with the national side. Every match is like a final for me. I hope to keep on performing well and make it to the 2014 World Cup."

Both Germany and Netherlands are without several regulars in Wednesday's friendly due to injury, but Elia is nonetheless keen to take on Die Mannschaft.

"I don't care about all the withdrawals," he insisted. "I am focused on my own performance and on the team. It's always nice to face Germany and to beat them. We will do our utmost to come out victorious. It will be a great game."

Elia then went on to voice his admiration for Clarence Seedorf, who will possibly play a role off the pitch with Oranje at the World Cup.

"Seedorf is one of my idols and an example to follow," the Bremen attacker added. "He is one of Netherlands' greatest players ever. It would be great if he becomes some sort of ambassador.

"Unfortunately, he never really got the respect he deserves in Holland. He could have made more international appearances and be more important for Oranje."

Elia has made 27 appearances for Netherlands so far, scoring twice in the process.
