Luiz Gustavo believes that Javi Martinez will prove to be a useful addition for Bayern Munich, but he has no plans to willingly give up his starting berth.
The Spain international joined the Bavarians from Athletic Bilbao in the summer transfer window, but Gustavo is confident that both midfielders will get plenty of playing time this term.
"He is a good player. He will definitely help us," the Brazilian stated to Goal.com.
"The coach decides who plays and I have to accept that. A long season awaits and there will be plenty of games."
The former Hoffenheim star then looked ahead to Bayern's Champions League group stage opene against Valencia on Wednesday evening.
"We have to respect all the teams in the group. There are no easy games. Valencia might be the best-known opponent, but the other teams can be dangerous as well," he continued.
"We have to be very focused and alert in every game. We always want to win every game, also against Valencia."
