Zambia striker Christopher Katongo has thanked Goal.com for including him in the Goal.com 50, the annual list that ranks the best players in the game from across the globe.
The 29-year-old played a key role as his country ran out surprising victors at the 2012 African Cup of Nations, beating Cote d'Ivoire on penalties in the final.
Accordingly, the Henan Construction man secured 42nd place in the Goal.com 50, and he has admitted that he is honoured to have had his efforts recognised.
"I am glad to be a member of the Goal.com 50," he told Goal.com. "No, actually, I'm one of the best 42 players in the world!
"It really is a great honour. It means that I have been recognised by the footballing world.
"Thank you everyone. And thank you, Goal.com!"
Katongo, who has also played for Brondby, Arminia Bielefeld and Skoda Xanthi, has won 72 caps for his country since making his debut in 2003.
