AC Milan are frontrunners in the race to sign Sao Paulo defender Bruno Uvini, understands.

The 21-year-old stopper, who is part of Brazil's squad for the Olympic Games, has continuously been linked with a Serie A move in recent times, with AC Milan, Napoli and Roma all understood to be keeping tabs on him.

However, it is understood that Milan are now heading the queue for Uvini, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Tottenham.

Despite the fact that Uvini is widely regarded as one of the hottest South American prospects, new Spurs coach Andre Villas-Boas did not sanction a €3.7 million deal to sign the defender on a permanent deal.

Should Milan succeed in their efforts to sign the Brazil international, it is believed they will ship the defender out on loan to Pescara to get more games under his belt before having his chance at San Siro.
