The club owner is overjoyed about the season his side are having but insisted that he is taking nothing for granted, not even Champions League football
Rene Girard's men have moved three points clear at the top of the table after cruising to an emphatic 3-1 victory against Olympique de Marseille at Stade Velodrome on Wednesday.
Nicollin admitted that he is getting more nervous as the season reaches its climax and noted that the team have been faring much better than he had expected.
"I went through this match very badly; I was afraid," Nicollin told reporters after the match.
"I am afraid that at the end we will not end up in the first three when we deserve it.
"I repeat, I am stressed. When you play to finish eighth and you find yourself first, it is something extraordinary!
"So the goal is to play the Champions League, but will we reach it? I do not know."
The Montpellier owner also had words of praise for Girard, who took the club's reins in 2009, saying: "I think Girard is definitely the best coach Montpellier have had."
