The Super Eagles coach reveals he has been in contact with the Leverkusen winger, and says that the ball is now in his court
Former Germany youth international Sidney Sam will soon inform Nigeria of his decision to play for the national team, according to Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi.
The 50-year-old has been courting the Bayer Leverkusen man for the last couple of weeks, and now it appears that his bargaining with the midfielder has proved successful.
"Sidney is doing well and he has just recovered from his injury," Keshi told reporters in Abuja on Thursday.
"We have been communicating via text message and he told me he will be back again soon and that he will get in touch with me.
"Once he is ready again, he will get in touch with me."
The decision will now be left to Sam, who must choose between his adopted country Germany, or the homeland of his father.Meanwhile, Keshi is currently with his team for the friendly match in Lima against Peru, and is keen for Sam to join up with the squad for the Africa Cup of Nations next year.
