The prolific striker is determined to end the season on a high by winning both finals his side are in, while stressing that he's not thinking about the top-scorer awardMario Gomez has insisted that Bayern Munich are determined to beat Chelsea in the final of the Champions League on May 19.
The Bavarians eliminated Real Madrid in the semi-finals to book their ticket for the showpiece at the Allianz Arena, and Gomez has made it clear that the Bavarians are determined to lift the trophy in their home ground.
"We are going into the Champions League final to win it, regardless of whether Chelsea are having a good or a bad season. I'd say it's 50-50 at this point who will win it," Gomez stated at a press conference.
Gomez then went on to discuss the upcoming DFB Pokal final against Borussia Dortmund on May 12, and stressed that Bayern want to win the German cup too and complete a double.
"We have to give our utmost to win both finals. Dortmund might have won the last four games against us, but the final is played on neutral ground and it's all or nothing. We are desperate to win our first title of the season."
The Germany international is currently trailing Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar by one goal in the Bundesliga goalscoring charts, but Gomez has insisted that the individual accolade is not an objective for him ahead of Bayern's last Bundesliga game of the season on Saturday.
"I have never thought about the top-scorer title when I sat on the bench this term. I have already won the award once. Of course, I do want to score, but its not a duel between us two. I won't just wait on the edge of the box until I get a chance."
Bayern's final league game this season against Koln on Saturday kicks off at 15.30CET.
