We were by far the better side against Paris Saint-Germain, says Porto's James Rodriguez
The winger struck the game's only goal in the closing minutes, and insists his team were the dominant force against Carlo Ancelotti's expensively-assembled squad
James Rodriguez was delighted to have scored the winner in Porto's 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain, and believes his side were good value for the win.The 21-year-old struck a superb goal in the 83rd minute to secure all three points for the Portuguese champions against Carlo Ancelotti's side, and insisted they outplayed their wealthy Ligue 1 visitors for large swathes of the game.
He told reporters after the match: "It was a difficult game. In the first half we couldn't convert our chances. We did in the end and it was very important. I tried to score many times and thank God the last one went in.
"We knew they had a lot of good players, but we were far better tonight. We are very strong, but must take things step by step."
Joao Moutinho echoed the sentiments of his team-mate, adding that the result was a crucial step forward for Porto as they look to secure a place in the knock-out round of the tournament.
"We deserved a better result, but we won and that's what counts," said the playmaker.
"We now have six points. We managed to impose our game on PSG, which was an important strategy, as it meant we could create chances and score.
"We took an important step with this win but we must continue doing it, with the same unity and spirit we showed here."
Porto's next opponents in the Champions League are Dinamo Kiev which is due to be played on October 24.
