Cristiano Ronaldo: Euro 2012 could help me win the Ballon d'Or
The Real Madrid forward believes an excellent tournament in Poland and Ukraine could increase his chances of reclaiming the best player in the world accolade
Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo thinks that his displays at Euro 2012 could help him secure the Fifa Ballon d'Or award. The 27-year-old has been tipped as a favourite to claim the prestigious accolade after scoring 60 goals in all competitions for Real Madrid last season, including 46 in La Liga, as he inspired Los Blancos to the league title.
Ronaldo is currently topping the scoring charts at Euro 2012 alongside three other players with three goals following his winner in Portugal's 1-0 quarter-final victory over Czech Republic.
And the Seleccao captain believes that his performances in Poland and Ukraine may help him end the reign of Lionel Messi, who has won the last three Ballon d'Or awards.

"This was a terrific match on our part against Czech Republic, who had no chances," Ronaldo told reporters after the match.
"I do not think my displays at the Euros will be decisive to win the Ballon d'Or, but they could help.
"The goal? I dedicated it to my son."
Portugal will now face either Spain or France in the semi-finals, with Ronaldo stating that he has no preference who their next opponent will be.
"It is the same if we get Spain or France," the 27-year-old added. "In any case, each team will have a 50 per cent chance."
