TEAM NEWS: No Mata or Luiz in Chelsea squad for Fulham visit

Rumours that the Spain and Brazil internationals would be out of favour with Mourinho have persisted ever since his return to English football earlier this summer
Jose Mourinho has kept Juan Mata and David Luiz out of his squad for Chelsea's clash with Fulham at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho had warned Mata in his Friday press conference that he would have to adapt to a new style of play or stay on the bench, though there is no room for him at all just 24 hours later.

Luiz, who was subject of a £21.5 million bid from Barcelona earlier this summer, also misses out after being kept out of the Blues’ early matches with an injury.

Speculation that the pair would be out of favour under Mourinho has been rife since the Portuguese returned to Stamford Bridge, and indeed Goal reported in late June that Mata would speak to his manager to get assurances about his future.

Manchester United claimed that the west Londoners had offered the choice of either player, plus cash, for Wayne Rooney. Chelsea denied the suggestion but rumours concerning the duo has persisted ever since.
