The Tottenham midfielder has had an injury plagued season and is only just cementing his place back in the Spurs midfield after aggravating a long-standing Achilles injury at last summer's international showpiece in Poland and Ukraine.

"I am proud to represent my country, but I say the same thing every time, it is going to be difficult because in this country we have an abundance of midfield players," Parker told reporters.
Along with captain Steven Gerrard, Hodgson selected Frank Lampard, Tom Cleverley, Jack Wilshere, Leon Osman and Michael Carrick as his central-midfield options, though the latter has since had to withdraw from the squad through injury.
"They are very good players," continued Parker, who has been capped 17 times by his country and captained the side during a friendly defeat to the Netherlands in February 2012.
"But I always say to myself, work hard, keep my form, play as well as I can and the rest will take care of itself. I just love to be involved with England."
