The troubled club will start their League one campaign on -10 points if they’re accepted into the division because of their financial state the Football League have said today.

Portsmouth,who have entered into administration twice in two years, have been told today by the leagues governing body that they will start on -10 points if they are allowed to play in league one.

The south coast club were relegated from The Championship, in which they were also deducted 10 points for administration,  after finishing 22nd in the division only twelve months after being relegated from the Premier League, in which they also suffered a points deduction.

The club are still in administration whilst Pompey Supporters' Trust and Balram Chainrai battle for ownership, with the league also insisting the club must pay all footballing creditors In full and abide by strict financial rules.

In a statement The Football League confirmed “seek to ensure the sporting integrity of league football and the financial viability of the club going forward"
 
If accepted in to league one it will be the lowest the club has been in 30 years and the club only currently have eight players registered for the upcoming season. included in the eight players is Nigerian Kanu who has missed the first two training session after not returning from the summer break.
 

Birmingham City confirmed the signing of Portsmouth's Hayden Mullins on Thursday, with the 33-year-old moving to St.Andrews for free on a two-year deal and Aaron Mokoena will leave the club after having his contract terminated and is set to join South African club Bidvest Wits.
