thumbnail Hello,

The Uruguyan forward endured an up and down campaign last season on and off the pitch, but has backed the former Swansea boss to make an impact at Anfield next term

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has backed the club's appointment of Brendan Rodgers as their new manager, hailing the former Swansea City manager's style of play.

The Swans drew admiring glances from all corners last season, finishing 11th in the Premier League with a possession-based philosophy and Suarez was a fan of what he saw.

"I have to say Swansea were a pleasant surprise in the Premier League," Suarez told reporters.

"They always tried to play football with short-pass combinations and didn’t care what zone of the field they were at."

Suarez finished the campaign as the club's top scorer last season despite serving an eight-game ban for racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra.

The Uruguayan ended up with 17 goals across all competitions in his first full season in England.
